Char-Griller 3001 Grillin’ Pro 40,800-BTU Gas Grill Review

June 26, 2010 by admin

The Char Griller Grillin' Pro packs 40,800 BTU in a highly durable steel frame, and promises ample room for grilling. The cooking area measures 630 square inches in total, with 438 square inches solely devoted to grilling anything from steaks to seasonal vegetables. Its chrome-plated warming rack provides 192 square inches to keep food warm or heat buns. In addition to the three stainless steel burners that the grill uses to generate almost 41,000 BTU of heat, the Char Griller also features a 12,000 BTU side burner to heat sauces or prepare simple side dishes.

Easy Electronic Ignition and Assured Quick Heating

Standing at 50 x 25 x 42 inches (height x depth x width), lighting the Grillin' Pro is easy with the electronic ignition and each burner has its own igniter probe as well. The grill also ensures quick and even heating with its dual smokestacks, and its porcelain-enameled cast iron cooking grates guarantee vivid sear marks on everything that hits the grill. The stainless steel, center-mounted thermometer on the lid of the grill, which is equipped with a stay-cool hood handle, ensures accurate temperature readings while the adjustable grate allows precise temperature control.

Grill Temperature Soars in Minutes

Many a review enthused about how easy it was to light the grill, even in windy conditions. Cooks were also impressed with how quickly the grill heated, reaching temperatures of up to 700 degrees Fahrenheit within 10 minutes. They also found that the three burners and the barrel construction of the grill itself were integral to the quick and even heating of the grill. The porcelain enameled cooking grates and heavy steel body also helped to retain the ample heat produced to an impressive degree.

All the heat produced and retained made for the ultimate grilling experience for a large number of cooks. Many of them cited the enameled cast iron grates as one of the reasons that their grilling and sear marks turned out so well. Helpfully, the grates also have areas specifically marked for "searing" and "grilling" for best results. The high heat produced, even heat distribution and large cooking surface are the perfect elements for speedy cooking, allowing one cook to notch up 15 hamburgers and 8 bratwursts within 15 minutes.

Grate Sections Are Easy To Clean

While some users questioned the need to have a 3-piece cooking grate, those who were in charge of the washing up were happy with the thoughtful design. The days of struggling to clean a single large piece in a small kitchen sink are over as the individual pieces are easy to clean. The warming rack wins many points for being sturdy and securely fastened, and being able to add on accessories like a rotisserie makes the grill look like a lifetime prospect.

Assembly Needs Patience

The sturdy construction of the Grillin' Pro means that assembly can take some time. Most cooks needed assistance with the assembly, and assembly times ranged from 1-3 hours. One possible reason for the protracted assembly period was that the instructions were not as easy to understand as most users would have preferred.

The lack of a lip on the back of the cooking grates also caused some concern. It means that a cook has to be cautious when attempting to flip a burger, as the burgers at the rear of the grill might very well slip over the edge of the flat cooking surface.
